During his first season with the Sydney Kings, high-flying wing Jaylin Galloway showed glimpses of the huge talent is possesses.

Although his minutes were limited during his debut season with Chase Buford's side as a development player, Galloway took more than just a championship away from the NBL22 season.

"Last year was one big learning experience for me, especially with the talent we had in that group," Galloway said.

"I developed a lot as a player, so to come away with a championship was just a huge bonus."

This growth as a player was on show when Galloway teamed up with fellow King Biwali Bayles and his older brother Kyrin at the Mackay Meteors.

"It was great to put all that hard work from the season with the Kings into actual playing time with the Meteors," said Galloway, who averaged 18.41 points, five rebounds, three assists, 2.12 steals and 1.06 blocks in his maiden NBL1 season.

"I went up there with goals to find a consistent rhythm offensively, lock up opponents on defence and doing those little things, such as offensive rebounds.

"I felt I achieved those goals set out by me and the Sydney coaches, which gave me plenty of confidence heading into my second pre-season with the Kings."

While it may be the United States-born product's second at the harbour city, it represents his first as a full-contract player - an opportunity that isn't lost on him.

"This season is a big one for me and I'm keen to keep working hard, improve each and every day and prove I can make an impact in this league," he said.

"I'm the kind of player that's willing to do all those one percenters that will help the team win and I'm keen to show on a more consistent basis this season, as we attempt to defend our NBL title."

On that, Galloway has complete faith his revamped team can go back-to-back.

"Having seen what it takes to excel and go all the way in this league, our group is willing to do all that and more to defend our crown we worked so hard to secure," he said.

"Although we have a couple of new guys here, who will add a lot to our squad, the nucleus from last season is still here and as hungry as ever and ready to build in year two under Chase."

A championship isn't the only piece of silverware that Galloway has his eyes set on.

"Personally, my goals are to take out either the Rookie of the Year or Most Improved award - which I honestly think are achievable if I continue to put in the work each and every day," he said.
