The Brydens Lawyers Sydney Kings can proudly announce $50,000 was raised from our Starlight Celebrity All-Star Game on Sunday at Qudos Bank Arena.
The Kings organisation donated $20,000 and our charity partners for the game Bing Lee and Chemist Warehouse donated $10,000 each with the remainder being raised be fan pledges on the day.
The game formed part of our Purple Reign celebrations on April 24 with some of the biggest names in Australian sport, politics and entertainment taking part.
This year’s concept was driven by 2GB, 2GB host Ben Fordham and the Premier of NSW and Kings No. 1 ticketholder Dominic Perrottet.
“We’re incredibly appreciative of the Sydney Kings ongoing support and congratulate all involved on such a successful Purple Reign game,” Starlight CEO Louise Baxter said.
“Funds raised at Sunday’s game will brighten the lives of 1,205 hospitalised seriously ill children and teens through the fun and joy of Captain Starlight and our Starlight Express Rooms.
“And that’s a lot to smile about!”
Hoops Capital Community Director Trish Crews said the event had proven again a seasonal highlight for the Kings organisation.
“The Starlight game is always a highlight on the Kings season calendar and this year, it did not disappoint,” she said.
“It was by far our most successful in terms of fundraising and we are incredibly grateful to 2GB, Chemist Warehouse, Bing Lee and all our fans who donated and/or bought tickets.
We loved seeing the Starlight kids at our game and it was a privilege to host young Evander who had the opportunity to play in the Premier’s team.
Evander is a wheelchair basketballer and previous recipient of a Starlight wish, and he was one of the stars who shone on court.”
