NBL rising star Galloway pens new three-year deal with Kings

One of the country's brightest young talents, Jaylin Galloway, has committed his long-term future to the Sydney Kings after agreeing to a new three-year deal with the club - with the third year being a team option.

Galloway, who joined the club as a development player in 2020 before becoming a fully rostered player in NBL23, has played an important role in the club's back-to-back championships under Chase Buford.

After such a successful start to his career at the Hoops Capital club, the Townsville product admits it was an easy choice to re-sign with the purple and gold.

"I thought [re-signing with the Kings] I was the best decision for me," Galloway said.

"[To be honest] there really isn’t another club I want to play for, especially coming off such an awesome and unforgettable season with the Kings.

"The club is super special to me, being the first-ever professional team I played for and that means a lot to me."

During NBL23, Galloway more than doubled his minutes under Buford, which saw his averages go from 0.93 to 5.39 points per game, 0.71 to two rebounds, 0.29 to 0.83 assists and 0.29 to 0.78 steals - all while being one of the club's primary defenders, alongside import Justin Simon.

"[Being with the Kings] made me a more physical player, while also helping me gain more confidence on the court," said the 20-year-old, who will play with Ipswich during the NBL1 season.

"I want to improve even more next year and win the NBL's Next Generation Award, while also helping the club secure its second-ever three-peat."

Kings CEO Chris Pongrass expressed how delighted the club was to secure the services of the Australian Boomer long-term.

"We originally had a team option for Jaylin next season but wanted to both reward him for his hard work and also capitalise on his tremendous upside; we decided to restructure and extend him on a longer-term deal," Pongrass said.

"The growth Jaylin has made during his three seasons with us has been exceptional – he will be a key piece for our club for years to come.

"We're thrilled to have him remain in Sydney for at least the next three seasons and look forward to him proving why he's one of the country's young up-and-coming stars."

Galloway is now the fourth player on the Kings' roster for the NBL 24 season, joining championship-winning teammates Dejan Vasiljevic, Shaun Bruce and Jordi Hunter.
