"It [the milestone] is something I’m definitely grateful for but I'm still trying to establish myself in this league, so hopefully I still have many more [games] to come," Maluach said.

The final game of the 2024 calendar year was a special one, despite the result, for NSW product Makuach Maluach.

The match against Adelaide at Qudos Bank Arena marked his 50th appearance in the NBL.

"It [the milestone] is something I’m definitely grateful for but I'm still trying to establish myself in this league, so hopefully I still have many more [games] to come," said King #243 Maluach.

The fixture also allowed the Armidale junior time to reflect on his growth as a player since his debut with Melbourne United in NBL23.

"[During my first 50 games] I've developed an understanding of what it takes to win in this league and making sure you learn from the good and bad," the 26-year-old said.

"There are going to be ups and downs, so staying focused mentally and physically is important."

Looking ahead, Maluach, who hopes to help the Kings win their sixth NBL championship this season, and his Hoops Capital side next play South East Melbourne on Thursday, January 2 at Qudos Bank Arena.

"Against the Phoenix, we need to come ready to compete - they are a good team and playing good basketball right now but we have to be the desperate team on the night," he said.

"We didn’t play well against Adelaide, so making sure we don't get outworked on the effort stuff is key."

Tickets to the Hoops Capital double-header, which will also see the Flames battle Bendigo from 4.45pm, are still available here.
