Hometown boos motivate Kings guard Glover

Former Hawks fan favourite Angus Glover says the boos from the Illawarra faithful serves as extra motivation ahead of Friday night’s Freeway Series clash.
Glover was raised in Wollongong and was at the Hawks from 2016-2020, before joining the arch-rival Sydney Kings and enjoying championship success last season.
As the 24-year-old prepares to suit up for the Kings on the Hawks’ home court on Friday night, he is expecting a hostile response from one of the league’s most passionate fanbases.

“They are (fans) of their club, so they have the right to boo me or whoever they want,” Glover told Newscorp.
“I mean, it’s cool and I don’t mind it. That is just extra motivation for me. The way I see it is that they wouldn’t boo me if they didn’t care.”
Tensions boiled over in last season’s Freeway Series battles, when Glover was involved in a heated altercation between the two sides.
This season’s meetings have also been memorable, with a Shaun Bruce game winner at the buzzer giving Sydney a famous victory in round seven.
Tip-off between Illawarra and Sydney is slated for 7:30pm AEDT on Friday night.
