The Brydens Lawyers Sydney Kings are excited to announce championship guard Angus Glover will have a third season as a Sydney King.
The player and club have taken up a mutual option to activate Glover’s third year of his contract which will see the talented 23-year-old line up in the purple and gold again for #NBL23.
The Wollongong native signed on for a long-term deal with the Kings leading into #NBL21 but missed a large part of his debut season with Sydney after injuring his right knee early in the season. It came on the back of three knee reconstructions Glover had during his junior career.
He was an integral part of the Championship team in #NBL22 averaging over five points and three rebounds a game, but always providing the characteristic spark and energy once on the floor.
Glover said making the decision to take up the option of a third year with the Kings was an easy one.
“It’s nice to come back. I feel loved by the club and the fans,” he said this week.
“To have a chance to defend what we won and potentially go back-to-back, I wasn’t going to miss that for sure.
"I want to say a big thanks to everyone involved with the club. The first year did not go to plan for me and the amount of resources everyone gave me to get back and be a part of a championship-winning team and put all this other stuff behind me is cool.
“There is no better way to repay the club than by coming back and trying to do it all over again!”
Sydney Kings CEO Chris Pongrass said activating the mutual option on Glover was a simple decision for the club.
“Gus is such a great guy and we are all extremely proud of him,” Pongrass said.
“When you consider how far he has come and what he has gone through to get here, it is nothing short of amazing.
“Letting Gus go from that third year was never a consideration for us.”
Glover joins Biwali Bayles, Jordan Hunter and Jaylin Galloway as confirmed for the Kings roster for next season.
Glover will play in the NBL off-season with the Sutherland Sharks in the NBL1 East.
