There will be a final two episodes to come documenting both the semi-final series against the arch rival Illawarra Hawks and the grand final series against the Tasmania JackJumpers. Both episodes will be available in coming weeks.
Episode five, entitled Eora, takes you inside the lead-up to the club’s Indigenous round clashes with the Cairns Taipans and opens with the artist and Wiradjuri man Stewart James talking about the design of the Kings’ jersey and what the round means to him.
“I think it’s a unique opportunity for us to showcase the Eora nation on the front of the Illawarra jersey for a lot of reasons,” Stewart said.
First and foremost for the (Eora) name itself, it holds significance for that area and it’s a collective of the Sydney basin people and everyone within that area has a strong connection.
“For our non aboriginal players and staff within the club to share in that as well and represent the Eora people is a powerful thing in itself.”
Episode six is the Jarell Martin episode, entitled Rel’s Film Room, and takes an in-depth look at the season through the eyes of the Kings’ import big man.
Viewers also get some key insights into Martin’s character, including from Kings CEO Chris Pongrasss who was at the Memphis Grizzlies when Martin was drafted in 2015.
“Jarell is a sweetheart,’’ Pongrass says in summing up the character of the Kings’ gentle giant.
Episode seven, The Road Home, takes a look at the Kings’ final home games before the finals and the pros and cons of the club’s record-breaking winning streak.
It includes some special insight from not only coach Chase Buford, but also the Kings’ NBA Championship veteran Ian Clark as the team prepares to go into a semi-final series against the Hawks.
