We are relieved to share that long-time member Adam Wilson is currently in a stable condition following a medical emergency during Sunday’s Championship decider at Qudos Bank Arena.
In the final moments of the game, Adam suffered a cardiac arrest in the stands, with members and staff immediately stepping in to help.
Several members began CPR before medical professionals in the crowd, including emergency specialist Dr Chris Partyka, took over care alongside QBA staff, NSW Police and St John Ambulance personnel.
Hoops Capital Chief Executive Officer Mark Thompson said the club was incredibly grateful for the swift and selfless actions of those involved.
“While it was an unforgettable night for our club on the court, our thoughts have been with Adam and his family,” Thompson said.
“We are so thankful to hear he is now in a stable condition, and we send our full support as he continues his recovery.”
“The actions of the members who immediately stepped in, as well as the medical professionals, police and the emergency services were extraordinary. They gave Adam the best possible chance, and we are forever grateful.”
Adam’s wife Gina has been in contact with the club and expressed her appreciation for the support shown on the night and in the days since.
Gina tells us that Adam is improving every day and he has since asked about the game’s result. We are so glad it was good news he could receive.
We can't wait to celebrate with Adam and his family, and send all of our love their way.
Gina would like to thank all those who helped support Adam and her family during the experience including Qudos Bank Arena staff, St John’s Ambulance, auburn and Fairfield police officers and in particular fellow members Mark and Cathy Ninio who provided immediate care and administered mouth to mouth resuscitation, Dr Chris Partyka, as well as Vicki McKell and Jarrad McKell-Dorsett.
