The Sydney Kings have enacted a special “Christmas Clause” and signed a player exclusively for the historic Christmas Night Hungry Jacks NBL clash.
The Kings have announced today the signing of a podgy power forward hailing from the University of the North Pole.
Standing at an impressive six feet and six inches (it’s true, we Googled it), Santa Claus will go from dunking cookies around the globe on Christmas Eve to dunking basketballs on Christmas Night for the Kings.

He will suit up as we take on our arch-enemies, the Christmas grinches called Melbourne United.
The Christmas Night clash at Qudos Bank Arena, tipping off at 6.30 pm, will be an Australian sporting first.
Speaking in an exclusive press conference, flanked by Kings coach Chase Buford and CEO Chris Pongrass, Santa said playing with the Kings on Christmas night was too big an opportunity to pass up.
“The Kings are bringing a basketball game to Christmas and I thought you can’t have Christmas without the MVP of Christmas,” Santa told Kings Media.
“So I called up Chris Pongrass and told him I’m gonna play on Christmas Day.”
Santa has impressed all during his pre-Christmas scrimmages.
“He’s got great vision Santa. He's everywhere at once if you know what I mean,” Kings centre Jordan Hunter said.
“He’s a baller. White Chocolate we call him,” Dejan Vasiljevic added.
The Christmas Night clash will be telecast through Channel 10’s main channel in Sydney and Melbourne and broadcast nationwide via 10 Peach, Kayo and 10 Play.
Venue capacity has been restricted to just 9500 at Qudos Bank Arena and more than half of the capacity has been sold.
Tickets are still available in all categories via Ticketek here - with tickets from $22 and families $48.
