Path to FIBA World Cup unveiled for Kings' Boomers

The path to the 2027 FIBA World Cup for the Australian Boomers, featuring Kings trio Xavier Cooks, Keli Leaupepe and David Hillard, has been revealed at Doha, Qatar.
Spanning across six international windows from November 2025 to March 2027, the qualifiers will feature 420 games worldwide.
Australia will compete in the Asian Qualifiers with Guam, New Zealand and the Philippines drawn as our first-round opponents.

The qualification process involves 16 teams that qualified for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, including Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Guam, India, Iran, and Qatar (the host nation, which participates despite automatic qualification).
The qualifiers are structured in two rounds:
- First round (November 2025 – July 2026): Teams are divided into groups, with the top three from each group and the best fourth-place team advancing to the second round.
- Second round (November 2026 – July 2027): The remaining teams are placed into two groups, with the top three from each group securing a spot in the World Cup.
