Hey Kings fans, we know there's been an overload of information that has come your way over the past few weeks and it's been hard to keep track of it all.
To make it a little bit easier for you we've loaded up the most common questions below to help with answering anything you may be wondering about the NBL21 season. If we've missed anything below, feel free to leave us a question on social media and we can add it.
We hope this helps!
1) When will the full schedule be released?
The NBL recently announced that the 2020-21 schedule would continue to be released as a ‘rolling schedule’ (one to two rounds at a time). This allows the league the flexibility to move games around as state border restrictions continue to evolve.
2) I thought the Kings first home game was this weekend – when is it?
The Kings originally had their first home game scheduled during the first two rounds, however due to current state border restrictions still placed on NSW and areas of Greater Sydney, the Club’s home opener has been postponed to a later date.
3) Will we have home games at Qudos Bank Arena?
Pending restrictions easing, the NBL and Kings will work towards a home opener being played at Qudos Bank Arena prior to the NBL Cup commencing in February. However, we are currently at the mercy of other state governments who have not yet fully opened their borders to NSW and Greater Sydney.
As is the case with several other sports, the problem is not in getting teams into NSW or playing games here, the issue is that we are not able to get them out again for their next game the following week.
4) When will tickets be going on sale?
Due to the announcement of a rolling schedule, tickets for each Sydney Kings home game will be released 1-2 weeks prior to each game. The Kings are still awaiting confirmation as to when they will be playing their first home game at Qudos Bank Arena.
Keep an eye out on social media or join our email database to stay informed.
5) Will the Kings still play 14 home games this season, or is that unlikely?
Kings fans can be comforted knowing that it is still intended by both the NBL and Sydney Kings that the Club will play 14 home games in Sydney.
6) Will there be limited capacity at Qudos Bank Arena when games return?
As has been previously communicated, due to NSW Health regulations, crowd limits, adjusted seating plans, and conditions of entry will be in place to ensure social distancing and COVID safe protocols are adhered to once home games are underway at Qudos Bank Arena. These changes and details will be communicated closer to our first home game as we await further changes.
Crowd restrictions are continually changing, and while we will continue to adapt and remain flexible, it’s important to remind all fans that becoming a Kings member is the only way to guarantee access to the best tickets, particularly early on in the season.
7) What if I can’t get to 14 home games though?
If you’ve been considering becoming a member, the good news is that membership prices have been slashed from last season. Kings members also enjoy savings of up to 68% on tickets per game plus loads of other exclusive benefits.
Our full season memberships are transferable so if you are unable to attend a game, you can share your membership tickets with family member or friend providing they are eligible for the equivalent level of entry.
We also have 7-game and 3-game membership options available, here.
8) Where can I watch the team while they’re on the road?
Every NBL game is on ESPN or SBS VICELAND. You can also catch the games on SBS on Demand, the NBL Twitch channel, the NBL.TV app, and Kayo (for ESPN games). Just check out the Kings social media accounts or website to find out which channels the next game is on.
9) What about the NBL Cup / Melbourne hub, what is that?
The NBL has announced that all teams will head into a four-week hub in Melbourne from approximately the 19th of February. The 36 games will count towards the 2020-21 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season and will also decide the winner of the inaugural NBL Cup with total prize money of $300,000 up for grabs.
At the completion of the NBL Melbourne Hub, clubs will return to their respective home venues and complete the remainder of the NBL home and away season.
10) Will the Kings have a supporter membership or interstate membership again this season?
Our membership team are working through this at the moment. Given the very short notice on upcoming games and varying levels of venue capacities around the league, it’s been challenging to organise this in the same way we normally would with opposition teams.
We are however in communication with the NBL about what will be available to Kings fans in Melbourne, and fans who would like to travel down to the NBL Cup in February.
11) Can we purchase courtside seats or a corporate box yet?
Our corporate offering will go on sale once a Kings home game has been locked. These games will continue to be released as part of the NBL’s rolling schedule.
Due to limited capacities at venues it’s expected there will be a limited number of corporate seats available for purchase.
