The NBL Finals have begun with a groundswell of momentum, after yet another season underlined by immense growth.
More eyeballs were on the Sydney Kings and NBL than ever throughout the 2024/25 regular season, with the broadcast average reach up by more than 30 per cent across all platforms. The NBL remains the hottest ticket in town, with an incredible 50 sell-outs recorded so far, and more than one million fans attending games throughout the regular season, the second straight season that milestone has been achieved.

Fans have been treated to entertaining and world-class basketball, with the current average points per game being 93, the highest since the 2008/09 season, and the average three-point percentage per game of 35 per cent the highest rate since the 2019/20 season.
Fans are also highly engaged with the League on social media, with a 31 per cent jump in social media followers and a 26 per cent leap in website and app views.
A highly competitive campaign reaches its crescendo in the finals, which continues tonight when the Sydney Kings face the Adelaide 36ers in the sudden-death play-in qualifier.
“The NBL remains the fastest-growing sporting league in Australia, and we couldn’t be happier with the increases we have seen in all areas this season,” NBL CEO David Stevenson said.
“To see the League continue its unprecedented growth is a huge credit to the clubs, players, fans, broadcast, commercial and government partners, volunteers, and venues, who all play a valuable role in making the NBL one of the best sport entertainment products in the market. “As incredible as the regular season was, what fills me with even more excitement is the amazing period we are currently in, with the finals continuing tonight with a huge do-or-die clash between the Kings and 36ers.
“The intensity and competitiveness are set to reach new heights in the Finals, where every moment will matter, and all six remaining teams will dream big in their chase for the championship.”
