Kings exercise Maluach's team option for NBL25 season

The Sydney Kings are excited to announce they have exercised the second-year option of Makuach Maluach's deal, meaning he will remain with the club in NBL25.

The NSW junior, who averaged 4.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists during his first season at the Hoops Capital club, is the fifth player locked into Brian Goorjian's team for the 2024-25 season, joining Shaun BruceKouat Noi, Alex Toohey and Klairus Amir.

Maluach, who grew up in Armidale before attending Newington College in Sydney, is excited to extend his time in the harbour city.

"I am very excited to be returning to the Kings," said Maluach, who will once again play for Darwin in the NBL1 North campaign during the off-season.

"I believe we are building something special for the upcoming season, so I can’t wait to compete and try and bring another championship to Sydney."

During his second season back 'home', Maluach is looking forward to taking his game to the next level under coach Goorjian.

"One thing I took away from last season is that you need to approach every experience with a growth mindset and use that to help you be a better teammate and person," said the New Mexico Lobos alum.

"[Looking ahead], I’m happy to play for coach Goorjian.

"He has achieved so much in the sport and someone I think can help me get to where I want to get.

"With his guidance and leadership, I think it will elevate my game."

Kings CEO Chris Pongrass is thrilled is have another homegrown, NSW talent back at the Kings next season.

“Makuach showed great promise in his short stints last season – it was an easy decision for us to want to bring him back for another year," Pongrass said.

“There is a lot of potential in his game and he possesses a number of intangibles, particularly on the defensive end, that will be key for us to unlock this year”.
