For the first time in Australian sports history, the NBL will host a Christmas night game where the Sydney Kings will play rivals Melbourne United at Qudos Bank Arena at 6.15pm, with contributions from ticket sales being donated to The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.
The Salvation Army and Kings have teamed up to raise much-needed funds to support Australians doing it tough and to ensure no one is left feeling alone this festive season.

The Salvos are expecting this Christmas to be one of the busiest they have ever seen.
As electricity prices and interest rates increase, petrol prices continue to rise and affording a simple meal is costing more than ever before, more families are pushed to breaking point this festive holiday season.

But there is hope.
Hope that as communities come together and stand side by side; we can do our part to ensure no one is left in need and that everyone experiences the joy of togetherness and connection this Christmas.
“Christmas is many things to many people, but one theme is consistent, it’s a time of giving and caring for others,” Sydney Kings chairman and co-owner Paul Smith said.
“We hope that the initiative of a game of hoops on Christmas night can be the push that sets in motion a great outcome for The Salvation Army and their efforts to support the disadvantaged in our community.”
Want to get involved?
Here’s how you can be a part of this history-making day:
1. Monetary donation
Please donate now. Your generous gift will bring hope, joy and community togetherness to people experiencing loneliness and hardship this holiday season. A donation as little as $10 can help provide a meal to a person experiencing hardship over Christmas and New Year.
Thank you for your donation and for sharing the spirit of Christmas.
