Sydney Kings wing Jaylin Galloway will have the honour of representing his country once again, after being called into the Boomers squad to replace the injured Xavier Cooks.

The latter injured his ankle in the second quarter during Sunday's 81-77 win against New Zealand - which is set to sideline the NBL22 MVP for two to four weeks, including November 11's World Cup Qualifier against Kazakhstan at the Republican Velodrome Saryarka.

This opened the door for 19-year-old Galloway, who represented Australia in 2021 during the Asian World Cup qualifiers, to be promoted into the squad, alongside Kings teammate Dejan Vasiljevic.

"I'm really excited for this opportunity - it's always an honour to represent Australia," Galloway said.

The Boomers need just one more win from their four remaining Asian qualifying games to book their spot at the 2023 World Cup in Indonesia/Japan/the Philippines.

"The goal going over to Kazakhstan is to help book the Boomers spot at the World Cup and keep our undefeated record intact," Galloway said.

The Townsville product, who's really come into his own the past two fixtures with 10 and seven points respectively in wins against Cairns and New Zealand, expects this experience with Mike Kelly's side to help him moving forward in NBL23.

"This experience will be a great confidence boost for myself and one I hope to translate to more success on the court with the Kings," he said.
