Biography
The versatile and now experienced forward had a brilliant college career at Michigan State, leading to him being a first round NBA draftee, and now comes to the NBL for the first time joining the Sydney Kings.
While he has spent most of his NBA career as a wing in the two and three spots, in the NBL he looks like he will be best suited to being a three or four and now brings with him tremendous experience along with his passing, shooting, rebounding and playmaking abilities.
Grew up in Lansing, Michigan, so it was a natural for him to play his college basketball at Michigan State University. Over his four years with the Spartans he delivered 11.14 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 144 games, but as a senior those numbers rose to 19.2 points, 7.8 assists and 7.5 boards.
Also shot the three ball at 44.4 per cent to be the AP Player of the Year in 2016, NABC Player of the Year, Big Ten Player of the Year, and won both the Julius Erving and Lute Olson Awards.
He was quite the decorated player coming out of college and was taken at No. 14 in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Chicago. He went on to play 260 games starting with the Bulls then at the Cleveland Cavaliers and Utah Jazz up to the end of 2021/22.
Spent the 2022/23 season in the G League at the Maine Celtics, but was looking for a fresh start and arrives at the two-time defending champion Kings for his first overseas venture.
