The Sydney Kings ended a two-game skid in emphatic fashion last round against Cairns and now they've set their sights on dethroning league-leaders Melbourne.
The Hoops Capital side, who sit in third spot with a 10-8 record, will carry plenty of momentum into the round 14 fixture at Qudos Bank Arena on Thursday, January 4.
"It [Cairns] was a great win for the team and a great indicator that we’re capable of keeping a lead for the full 40 minutes - something we’ve struggled with previously," Sydney Kings NBL Next Star Alex Toohey said.
"The win was super important, especially coming off a few losses.
"The team bounced back and did what we needed to do in order to get us back on track."

Toohey knows United, who defeated the harbour city side at John Cain Arena during the season's previous meeting, will be a massive challenge for the purple and gold.
"Playing Melbourne will be a great test for our team and we’ll need our full squad to be ready to contribute," the Canberra product said.
"Since playing them earlier in the season, our team has grown tremendously, so it will be a great test to play them again."

The young forward knows how his team can defeat the 14-4 United come 7.15pm AEDT Thursday night.
"They’re super talented, shutting down their superstars like [Chric] Goulding, Jo Lual-Acuil and Matthew Dellavedova will be the biggest key to winning," the 19-year-old said.
"As well as making sure we keep them off the glass and win the rebound count."
