"He's already played for the Franklin Bulls and we are excited to welcome him back."

The Franklin Bulls would like to announce the signing of Sydney Kings centre Sam Timmins to the roster for the 2024 New Zealand NBL.

It's been four years since the Timmins suited up for the Bulls.

In 2020 the big man signed his first pro contract with the club; the team was entered into the league for the first time that same season.

Timmins had a great first season during the COVID-19-affected NZNBL showdown, averaging nearly 16 points, 10 rebounds and over a block a game - helping the young Bulls squad reach the playoffs.

After the showdown, Timmins decided to return to his childhood home in Otago for the NZNBL and stayed there for three seasons.

In that time he led his team to a title in 2022 and a semi-final in 2023.

Bulls co-founder and general manager who recruited Sam in 2020, Jamie Reddish says it's great to have Sam back in the squad and to reunite with 2020 teammate Isaac Davidson.

"Sam came to us a rookie and has produced some incredible performances since he joined the league," Reddish said to Bull Media.

"We are excited to have Sam back in the white, yellow and black to represent South Auckland, Franklin the North Waikato again - we know our fans will be stoked."

Since his time with the Bulls, Timmins not only helped his team (Nuggets) to a championship in 2022 but also was awarded the Most Outstanding Kiwi Forward and the Most Outstanding Forward (including imports), the 'Most Improved Player' and led the league in rebounds in 2021.

He was also selected in the 'All-Star Five'.

In 2020 he was blocks leader for the NZNBL Showdown, playing for the Bulls.

?Head coach Sebastian Gleim knows how important Timmins will be to the Bulls 2024 squad.

"Sam is an experienced player in an important position for the 2024 squad," Gleim said.

"He is a real big man with a hunger to get better. We know he'll bring a new dynamic to the team.

"He's already played for the Franklin Bulls and we are excited to welcome him back."
