Spurgin excited for opportunity to shine on international stage

Sydney Kings' Jason Spurgin is ready to put his hard work during the off-season to the test, when he lines up for the NBL Select team during their two matches in Japan.

King #253 Spurgin has extremely diligent with his off-season training in Sydney, while also shining for the Sutherland Sharks in the NBL1 East competition.

As such, he's thoroughly looking forward to this international opportunity.

"It’s a great opportunity and privilege to represent the NBL and compete at a high level," Spurgin said.

"I am looking forward to getting some experience playing against new competition and also excited to build new relationships with guys around the league."

To prepare for the two-game series against B.League United, the 23-year-old and his team had a training camp in Melbourne training before heading to Gunma on Wednesday for the B.League Global Invitational on June 28 and 29.

"Training camp in Melbourne has been great," the Toowoomba product said.

"It's been awesome to get into the gym and get some good work in with guys I’ve never played with before, while starting to build some chemistry."

Joining Spurgin in the team, which will be coached by Simon Mitchell, are South East Melbourne's DJ Mitchell, Angus Glover and Akech Aliir, Perth's Sunday Dech and Todd Withers, Brisbane's Mitch Norton and Sam McDaniel, Cairns' Kyle Adnam, Illawarra's Mason Peatling and Tasmania's Josh Bannan.
