Sydney’s own Lueth Awan has taken the next step in his basketball journey, joining the Kings’ as a Development Player for the 2025/26 season. At just 20 years old, the 6’7” guard brings length and defensive grit to the roster.
Since the age of 15, Awan has sharpened his skills across the Sydney hoops scene, representing Savannah Pride, Blacktown Storm, and the North Bears.

“It means a lot [to be a part of the Sydney Kings], being here learning under pros that have played the game for a very long time,” Awan says.
Putting in the work
Determined to make the most of his opportunity, Awan is embracing every detail of the professional environment.
“I’m learning how to be a professional, take care of my body, eating right, rehabbing, strength, everything,” he says.
On the court, his mission is clear: “My primary goal is to be a better defender.”
Savannah Pride Founder and Head Coach Mayor Chagai, who has guided Awan since his first steps in basketball, believes his natural instincts and discipline will carry him far.
“He’s a gifted athlete with a love for the game,” Chagai says. “A very focused defender and when it comes to offense, he’s a good shooter and he’s a natural.
“He’s quick on his feet and he’s got a lot of endurance. As a young player he has so much potential to develop and to grow. I think he will naturally grow into a better basketball player due to his instincts, under the guidance of the Kings.”
