The auction of a signed portrait of Andrew Bogut along with a signed jersey and shoes has raised the Isabella and Marcus Foundation $17,825 dollars to fund research to develop treatments for children with terminal brain cancer.
Founder of the Isabella and Marcus Foundation Robert De Rose said that the money raised will support a clinical trial for children diagnosed with incurable brain cancer in Australia and New Zealand.
De Rose says having Australian basketball legend Andrew Bogut’s support through the auction helped significantly.
“With Andrew’s support, we’ve been able to reach out to more people and fundraise far more effectively,” he said.
Brett Belot, the artist of the portrait, was one of many people the Foundation liked to thank for helping the fundraising event be so successful.
“We’re grateful to Brett Belot for approaching Andrew Bogut and the charity with this fundraising idea,” De Rose said.
“Thank you to Andrew and the Hoops Capital team for supporting the Isabella and Marcus Foundation. Thank you to all the bidders and congratulations to the winners.”
Bogut grew up in the Victorian suburb of Endeavour Hills, attending the same primary school as Isabella. Marcus and Isabella were both diagnosed with incurable brain cancer at five years old.
