Olympic pools revealed for Hoops Capital quartet

The highly anticipated pools for the men's and women's Olympic Basketball Tournaments for the Paris 2024 Games have been revealed for the Australian Boomers and Opals - headlined by Hoops Capital's Brian Goorjian, Tess Madgen and Cayla George, as well as Jackson Makoi's South Sudan.
During the recent draw at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies - conducted by Carmelo Anthony and Penny Taylor - Kings coach Brian Goorjian and his Boomers - featuring Sydney's David Hillard as team physio - were put in Group A alongside world number seven and FIBA World Championships bronze medallists Canada, as well as the winners of the Olympic qualifying tournaments in Piraeus, Greece and Valencia, Spain.
The former contains Egypt, the Dominican Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece and New Zealand, with Lebanon, Angola, Spain, Finland, Poland and the Bahamas in the latter.

While Sydney Kings guard Makoi and his South Sudan side are in Group C and will battle world number one United States, World Championships silver medallists Serbia and the winner of the July 2-7 qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico - consisting of Bahrain, Ivory Coast, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico and hosts Puerto Rico.
Group B consists of France, Germany, Japan and the victor of the Riga (Latvia) qualifying tournament between Georgia, the Philippines, Latvia, Brazil, Cameroon and Montenegro.
Goorjian's Aussies will start their pool matches in Lille against the victor of the Spanish qualifying tournament on July 27, before playing Canada on July 30 and the Greece winner on August 2.
Makoi's outfit starts against the Puerto Rico qualifier on July 28, which is followed by fixtures against the US (July 31) and Serbia (August 3).

The Opals, featuring Sydney Flames duo Madgen and George, will come up against world number five Canada, world number 12 Nigeria and world number seven and hosts France in Group B
Group A of the women includes Serbia, Spain, China and Puerto Rico, with the US, Germany, Japan and Belgium making up Group C.
Madgen and George's green and gold side first play Nigeria on July 29, before battling Canada (August 1) and France (August 4).
The Paris 2024 tournament will run from July 27 to August 11.
