Luc Longley was the first Australian to play in the NBA and part of the legendary Chicago Bulls team that won three consecutive championships in the late 1990s and featured in the recent Netflix series The Last Dance.
Since retiring in 2001, Longley has kept a relatively low profile in rural Western Australia, but the success of The Last Dance generated enormous interest in him, particularly given his virtual absence from the series. Now he’s ready to tell his story.
The Brydens Lawyers Sydney Kings are thrilled to support Luc Longley, in conjunction with Total Sport and Entertainment (TSE) and ABC’s Australian Story as they launch a two-part series on Longley’s life journey.
The series will air on Monday August 2nd and August 9th at 8.00pm.
The decision to be featured on Australian Story was led by his daughter’s encouragement to ensure his legacy is appreciated, and because he has made a deliberate choice to make himself more accessible to fans, brands and select media.
Longley has also made the decision to be officially represented by TSE after building a strong working relationship with them in his current role as Special Advisor to the TSE owned, Sydney Kings.
Paul Kind, TSE CEO said, “We are thrilled to represent Luc, our working relationship has grown during the past two years as Luc has become an important part of the Kings leadership team in his role as Special Advisor. I’m looking forward to developing a new working partnership with him to strategically build his profile and secure brand partnerships that are aligned with his personality and beliefs”.
Longley said, “I’m excited to see how Australian Story has treated my story and looking forward to sharing it with people who are still interested 25 years later”.
“I’m hoping this series and this partnership with TSE allows me to become more engaged with the public, and more available when the time is right”.
Longley’s Australian Story series will give fans a never-before-seen insight into his journey. The episodes feature interviews with Michael Jordan, Scott Pippen, legendary coaches Phil Jackson & Steve Kerr, along with close friends including author, Tim Winton, actor Ernie Dingo, and brother-in-law, author and comedian Ben Elton.
Longley currently works as a member of the Kings Executive team where he plays a key role in recruitment, player mentoring and providing strategic advice to management.
