Kings ready for sudden-death showdown with Breakers

The Sydney Kings know there is no room for error in their NBL24 season, as the campaign now transitions into the post-season.

Awaiting the harbour city side, who finished the year in fifth spot on the ladder, are NBL23 Championship Series opponents New Zealand - an outfit the two-time defending champions defeated on two out of three meetings during the regular season.

"Getting the consistency, an aspect we've struggled with all season is obviously key for us and the fact that everyone is now back healthy is a big part of that," coach Mahmoud Abdelfattah said at the NBL24 Finals launch press conference.

"There'll be a few other things we do over the next week or so to assist with that too, as all our guys know the situation we're now in.

"We finished the season off on the right foot against South East [Melbourne] and I hopeful we can carry some of that momentum into our game against New Zealand."

Echoing that sentiment was NBL22 MVP Jaylen Adams.

"It's playoff time and it's my job to carry that energy moving forward while ensuring everyone is locked into the task in front of us - especially in front of our home fans," said Adams, who believes the club's recent championship experience will help them during these sudden-death fixtures.

"But we have a great team, with plenty of veterans who have been in these kinds of situations before, so I have confidence we can keep this thing rolling - I know our guys won't shy away from the moment when it presents itself.

"We know it's one game at a time and we're just focusing on what's in front of us because we can't change everything that's already happened.

"I'm excited to get it all started [on Wednesday]."

The Wednesday, February 28 fixture will pit Adams against one of the other elite point guards in the competition Parker Jackson-Cartwright.

"It's always fun to come up against guys like Parker but they've got a number of talented guys that we need to lock in on defensively and pay attention to as a collective unit - especially in transition," King #226 said.
