Kings produce record-breaking performance against Snakes

Sunday's 26-point win by the Sydney Kings over Cairns was a record-breaking one for many reasons.
King #209 Shaun Bruce not only produced an equal career high in points (21 which equals his mark against Melbourne United in NBL21) but he also became the first Sydney player to hit 6/6 from downtown in the one game - eclipsing the previous best mark of Steve Carfino’s 9/10 against Hobart in 1989.
Fellow two-time NBL champion Xavier Cooks has also moved into fourth in the club's all-time blocked shots rankings, behind only Matthew Nielsen (357), Mark Dalton (145) and Julian Khazzouh (134).
Cooks also jumped into eighth place in the all-time franchise history in total rebounds with 851, leapfrogging Ben Melmeth (845) - with Ken McClary (853) and Damian Keogh (858) just in front of him.

Elsewhere, coach Brian Goorjian has won 16 straight home games against Cairns, with his last loss against the Taipans coming in November 2001 when he was coaching the Victoria Titans.
Finally, with Tyler Robertson making his first career start on Sunday, he became the first Australian to start at point guard for the Kings since NBL21, when teammate Shaun Bruce did it.
The Kings next home game is against the Breakers on Sunday, October 27 from 2.15pm.
Tickets to that Qudos Bank Arena clash are still available here.
