The popularity of basketball, and in particular the Sydney Kings, has never been higher, shown by the exceptional membership numbers heading into NBL23.

Sydney hoops fans are rallying behind the NBL champions in record numbers, as they attempt to defend the crown.

Fresh off a fourth championship, full season membership sales have already eclipsed last season's mark with two months before tip-off.

With three-game memberships set to go on sale this Wednesday, the Kings are on track to eclipse last season’s record-breaking numbers.

Kings CEO Chris Pongrass was thrilled with the numbers and puts it down to the incredible work of everyone in his Hoops Capital organisation.

He also warns Kings fans to get in quick so they can secure the best seats at Qudos Bank Arena.

"We're extremely proud to already have these amazing figures on the board, which shows the Sydney community is well and truly behind the Kings," Pongrass said.

"This is a testament to everyone at the club, from the ownership group, the playing group as well as all the front office staff.

“Each and every one of them has played a key role in lifting the presence and profile of the Kings in the Hoops Capital.

"It's been an incredible past 12 months for us and I can't wait to see what the next 12 months hold for our club and organisation.”

Chase Buford’s squad appear ready to defend our championship, with skipper Xavier Cooks, Dejan Vasiljevic, Shaun Bruce, Jordan Hunter and Angus Glover all back on deck, alongside recruits Derrick Walton Jr, Tim Soares, Justin Simon and Kouat Noi.

Our Kings' first home game of the season at Qudos Bank Arena is on Friday, October 7, where the club will host its championship commemoration and the banner drop prior to their fixture with Brisbane.

Other key fixtures on our calendar include the historic Christmas Day game against Melbourne United, the second Adrian Hurley Cup clash with Illawarra on Sunday, November 20 and the grand final replay against Tasmania on Sunday, December 11
