Kings head north to Gold Coast for NBL Blitz

Before starting their championship defence, the Sydney Kings will head north to the Gold Coast for the annual NBL Blitz - the competition announced on Friday.
The September 16-22 tournament, involving all 10 NBL teams, will present the first chance for Kings fans to watch new signings DJ Hogg, Jonah Bolden, Alex Toohey, Sam Timmins, Makuach Maluach and Klairus Amir in the purple and gold.
"The Blitz on the Gold Coast will be the biggest and best event we’ve ever hosted in the lead-up to a season – there’s absolutely no doubt about it,” NBL CEO David Stevenson said.
“We promise to deliver world-class basketball and family-friendly entertainment, and are delighted to be staging the Blitz on the Gold Coast.”

During the week-long tournament at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Mahmoud Abdelfattah's side will play against South East Melbourne (Monday, September 18, 7.30pm), Melbourne (Wednesday, September 20 at 7.30pm) and Brisbane (Friday, September 22 at 7.30pm) - with all games broadcast live and free on Kayo Freebies
During the competition, games are worth a maximum of seven points - three points are awarded to the winning team and one point is awarded to the side that wins each quarter.
In the event a quarter is tied, both teams receive half a point.
If a game goes into overtime, no additional points are awarded.
The winning team will be awarded the Loggins-Bruton Cup, while the tournament’s most outstanding player will take home the Ray Borner Medal.
