Sydney King #174 Brad Newley announced on Wednesday that the NBL24 season will be his last professional season.
During his illustrious career, Newley played 148 games across five seasons in Sydney - including playing a key role in helping the Hoops Capital club reach the grand final series in 2020.
One player who was also part of the grand final team was current Kings assistant coach Daniel Kickert, who knows firsthand the impact Newley had on the harbour city-based club.

"Newley made a huge impact on the trajectory of the Kings," King #203 Kickert said.
"Coming back as one of the marquee signings alongside Kevin Lisch, was a big turning point for the club.
"They battled through a tough few years but ultimately went a long way in getting this club on the right path to success."
Kickert cherishes the three seasons that he and Newley spent together in the purple and gold.
"Playing alongside Newls for those two years was great," the Australian Boomer said.
"Year two we had a lot of success and I have a lot of great memories from that year which really ended up being a massive year for the club and the direction we were heading."

While in Sydney, Newley - who made the All-@NBL Second Team in 2016-17 - had averages of 11.2 points, 4.5 boards and 2.2 dimes across his 148 games.

Following Wednesday's announcement and having time to reflect on his former teammate's career, Kickert congratulated the Adelaide product on his incredible career and is excited for what is next for him.
"20 seasons is a lot of hoops," the St Mary's alum said.
"It takes a lot of commitment and dedication to your craft just to be able to maintain your body, let alone the skill set required to do that - Brad has been remarkable in that area.
"I’m pumped for Brad and the opportunities that will follow for him in the next chapter.
"The opportunity for him to sit back and look back on an incredible career is extremely well deserved."
Kickert's Kings are continuing to ramp up preparations for their round 20 showdown with South East Melbourne on Saturday - with the match tipping off at 5.30pm AEDT and being streamed on ESPN via Kayo Sports.
