Star Kings centre Jordan Hunter is set to miss the NBL22 regular season.
Jordi underwent surgery on Thursday for a left navicular fracture which will see him sidelined for around four months.
The foot fracture was sustained this week as Jordi was nearing his return following a recent finger fracture.
Kings CEO Chris Pongrass said the injury was a bitter blow for one of the league’s most talented young bigs.
“Jordi is a much loved character off court and a vital member of our team on court so we are all devastated for him,” Pongrass said.
“The club will be right behind Jordi through every step in his rehabilitation and we know he will comeback from this setback stronger than ever.”
Jordi, a Sydney local, joined the Kings after graduating with St Marys University in the US.
He played 27 games in his rookie season in 2020, helping the Kings to a grand final berth,
Last season he led the Kings in total rebounds with 227 at 6.3 per game (36 games including 33 starts).
He was voted second in the NBL’s Most Improved Player award in 2021.
