Sydney Kings coach Brian Goorjian is happy his team has qualified for the NBL25 post-season but admits the work isn't done yet.
After back-to-back home losses to Adelaide and Perth, Goorjian's troops head to the WIN Entertainment Centre on Friday to take on Adrian Hurley Cup rivals Illawarra - in a match that will have huge finals ramifications.
"The goal all along was to get into the top six, which is what we've done but we know the real work is still on the horizon," Goorjian said in an interview with SEN.
"We know the Hawks will be a big challenge for us, especially in terms of rebounding, but we're having a great week on the practice court, with plenty of film time, and we'll be as ready as we can be come Friday."
Statistics will show the past 23 NBL champions have all finished in the top three at the end of the regular season, highlighting how important it is to get the win on Friday night and hope results go their way in Perth and Melbourne.
"Obviously it's ideal to finish as high as we can but we've stumbled at our past few chances to lock in a top spot like that," Goorjian said.

"So it'll be on us to take whatever is thrown our way and build momentum moving forward, which all starts in Wollongong on Friday
"Winning a tough game like Friday can galvanise a group and get you rolling at the right time of the season."
Friday's Freeway Series fixture tips off at 7.30pm AEDT on ESPN.
