Goorjian confident Kings will use FIBA break to their advantage

With the NBL competition currently on hold due to the FIBA break, Sydney Kings coach Brian Goorjian believes it gives his team a chance to recalibrate before their charge towards finals.
Currently sitting in fifth with a 7-6 record, Goorjian knows his team has another level to go to.
"The bottom line is that we're not playing to our potential at the moment," Goorjian said in an interview with The Big Sports Breakfast on Wednesday.
"Despite that, I'm still really excited about our group.
"We all knew there was going to be an adjustment period with so many new faces, so we're just going through an evolutionary stage right now."
A big part of the Hoops Capital team's record right now Goorjian believes has been its road-heavy schedule.
"We're sitting at 7-6 and nine of those games have been on the road," he said.
"The travel aspect of that has been spoken about a lot but the thing that hasn't been mentioned as much is our ability to train together and work on our games.
"In my opinion, that has been a big factor in the slower-than-expected growth of this group.

"You see certain things during a game and say to yourself, we need to get better at this and this and this, but realistically, with the time we've had together, we haven't been able to address as much as we would have liked.
"So that's why this FIBA break has come at such a good time for us and we intend to make the most of this extended time together on the training court.
"Everything we're going through is part of the natural progress and I'm optimistic we're going to come out of this break better than what we went into it."
Goorjian's Hoops Capital outfit head to Cairns on Friday, November 29 to face the Taipans from 7.30pm AEDT – live on ESPN.
The harbour city side's next home game is on Sunday, December 15 against Brisbane from 4.15pm AEDT at Qudos Bank Arena.
Tickets to that game are still available here.
