Glover to chalk up 50th game as Sydney King

Few players by age 24 have had to deal with the injury concerns Angus Glover has.

From three ACL tears to an ACL strain and other niggles - Glover has missed more than 60 NBL games since his debut season with the Illawarra Hawks in 2016-17.

So the fact he will chalk up his 50th game as a Sydney King on Friday night in Perth is a huge testament to his resiliency and character.

"It [the journey] been tough for sure but I have been lucky to have a bunch of people helping me along the way," Glover said.

"A big part was my family and my partner Kiera [Rowe] who was there every day seeing what I had to do to make it back every time I had a setback.

"They made it easier during some dark times that’s for sure.

"As such, it means a lot to say I’ve played 50 games with this amazing organisation - it’s been a great three years here in Sydney and hoping for many more to come."

The round 16 showdown with rivals Perth, who in fifth with a 12-10 record, will give Chase Buford's side a chance to extend their winning streak to seven games and solidify top spot on the ladder.

"Any time you go to Perth and win is special, so I’m obviously not worried about the milestone and just go to Perth and do my role in our group and help silence their crowd with a win," the Australian Boomer said,

"In terms of achieving that, obviously we know Bryce [Cotton] is their guy, making life difficult for him and everyone working behind the ball to rotate or show a crowd or whatever is necessary to help.

"They've got shooters everywhere, so locking in on the defensive end and making sure we finish rebounding the ball, so we can run the ball in transition."

With six games remaining of the regular season, Glover knows how important carrying momentum into the post-season is - as the Hoops Capital outfit attempt to defend their NBL22 crown.

"Momentum at this time of the year is massive," he said.

"We are continually trying to better every day.

"It’s a long season but we want to keep getting better and continue building for the end of the season by winning games and finding areas to keep improving."
