"For us, we have to play our style of defence for 40 minutes for us to be successful."

The Sydney Kings will look to end a two-game skid on Thursday when they take on the Cairns Taipans at the Cairns Convention Centre.

In both of those aforementioned defeats to Melbourne and Perth, the Hoops Capital club has relinquished double-digit leads.

But two-time NBL champion Angus Glover believes his side has learnt from those two losses.

"We just let too many silly mistakes happen defensively [in those two defeats]," Glover said.

"For us, we have to play our style of defence for 40 minutes for us to be successful."

The round 10 match-up will mark the second time the two NBL23 semi-final opponents have locked horns this season - with the Snakes winning the first meeting 87-80 on October 28.

"Playing the full 40 minutes the way we want to play [will help rectify our recent fadeouts]," said King #219, who emphasised that his team are taking it 'one game at a time' to try to return to the winner's circle.

"We can't make silly mistakes and need to give effort in everything that we do.

"Offensively we know we can score so it’s what we do on the defensive end, including rebounds.

"[Last time we played Cairns] we gave them too many offensive rebounds and when you allow a team to do that on their home floor, it’s hard to win.

"We want to get up and down and I thought they held us up in the half-court more than we would’ve liked - so definitely trying to push the pace [is a point of emphasis for us]."

Thursday's match on ESPN via Kayo Sports tips off at 7.30pm AEDT.
