Cooks officially signs NBA contract with Wizards

Xavier Cooks has officially signed with the Washington Wizards, completing a dream move to the NBA.
According to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc, Cooks has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal with the Wizards, just days after securing back-to-back Championship honours with the Sydney Kings.

“We welcome Xavier to the Wizards organization as a very intelligent, high-energy player that will add athleticism to our squad while being a great teammate,” Washington’s president and general manager Tommy Sheppard said.
“He left a lasting legacy in the NBL to pursue his dream to play in the NBA and we feel he will be an excellent addition now and in the future.”

Cooks was a dominant force in the NBL across the past two seasons, winning the League’s Andrew Gaze Trophy as the Most Valuable Player this season, and named in the All-NBL First Team.
It came after he took home Grand Final MVP honours in the first of the Kings’ two consecutive Championships in NBL22.
Cooks averaged 14.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists across this season.
