Members and fans can break out the tickertape as your Sydney Kings commemorate the unfurling of our club’s fourth championship banner in round two of the 2022-23 Hungry Jacks NBL season.
The opening home game of the NBL23 season at Qudos Bank Arena against the Brisbane Bullets on Friday, October 7, will feature an NBL22 Championship Banner Ceremony.
The Championship celebration game is just one of the many highlights of the season schedule announced today as the Kings launch their campaign to “run it back” in NBL23.
Other schedule highlights for Kings fans include a historic Christmas Day clash against our arch-rival Melbourne United, two big home Freeway Series clashes against the Illawarra Hawks, a December grand final replay against the Tassie JackJumpers, six big school holiday home games and four doubleheaders with the Sydney Flames (dates to be confirmed on the release of the WNBL schedule in August).

Already a large number of members have renewed for the upcoming season and Kings CEO Chris Pongrass said there was a strong sense of anticipation about the club’s title defence in NBL23.
“We’ve been able to maintain a core group of Championship Kings,” Mr Pongrass said.
“The re-signing of Xavier Cooks, who established himself as one of the best players in the country last season, was huge for us as was securing starting shooting guard Dejan Vasiljevic.
“On top of that we’ve added some exciting new faces to that group led of course by our two new imports Derrick Walton Jr and Justin Simon, who we both expect to have a significant impact on the league.
“We saw some of the biggest crowds in NBL history come out to watch us at Qudos Bank Arena last season and we promise another season of high energy, fast-paced, electric basketball under our Championship coach Chase Buford.”
“There is no better feeling than being a Kings fan in the Hoops Capital. Our game night experience is the best you will find in this country and we hope even more fans will experience that for themselves this season.”
The Hungry Jack’s NBL returns to its traditional summer timeslot tipping-off with a huge double-header on Saturday, October 1.
“We are thrilled to be back where we belong on the sports’ calendar and playing in spring and summer, through to March next year,” Hungry Jack’s NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said.
“After two interrupted seasons, we are excited to provide fans with a full schedule so they can confidently plan for the year and attend and watch as many games as possible.”
Every game of the season will be broadcast live on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel, with Sunday games simulcast on 10 Peach and 10 Play.
The NBL’s pre-season event, the Blitz, will take place in Darwin in mid- September, with dates to be announced soon. Tickets will go on sale to individual games later in the year but full season and seven-game memberships are on sale now.
