Sydney Kings guard Shaun Bruce will return to Queensland during the off-season, after recently penning to a second stint with the Logan Thunder.

His first season with the NBL1 club came in 2021, prior to Bruce helping the Kings win back-to-back championships with the Kings.

But when the Thunder reached out once again, the Horsham product jumped at the chance.

"I really enjoyed my last season with them back in 2021," Bruce said.

"Logan has a really nice community feel to it and it’s a fun place to play."

Bruce has had plenty of success in Queensland over the years, winning the Queensland Basketball League (what the competition was called prior to NBL1 North) in 2017 with Mackay, while also being named in the All-League team in 2014, 2015 (with Cairns) and 2017.

"I’m excited to be in positions to make plays consistently," he said.

"My role changes a lot when I go up there compared to what I’m asked of at the Kings.

"Having the pressure and responsibility to win games is something I love about playing in the NBL1.

"So taking on more responsibility and doing whatever’s needed to help the Thunder get some wins."

Further to that, he hopes to carry his championship-winning formula north of the border in 2023.

"The reason I play is to win, so I’ll do everything I can to bring a banner to Logan and share winning with those guys," the 32-year-old said.

"Personally, I’ll come out of it a better player if I’m able to help them do that."

Bruce will join fellow Kings Jaylin Galloway (Ipswich) and Archie Woodhill (Sydney) in the NBL1 competition in 2023.
