“I got a random text from Jason Smith (EGM of High Performance at Basketball Australia) saying that FIBA is trying to get a hold of you," said Andrew Bogut.
"So my instant thoughts were, ‘oh what have I done?’. But I finally connected with FIBA and yeah, I mean, it was just a pleasant surprise and I’m looking forward to the announcement and seeing it all unfold.
"It seems like an eternity since my playing career. I've been retired for around five years.
"Your career goes so quick and then the post-career slows down a bit when you start to unwind and get involved in different things, seems like an eternity ago."
