Aboriginal hip-hop artists Tasman Keith will be performing live on Sunday at Qudos Bank Arena for the Brydens Lawyers Sydney Kings’ Indigenous Round game.

The proud Gumbaynggirr man will perform ONE and WELCOME HOME, which is an unreleased song that will be included in his album coming out later this year.
This week Keith spoke with Kings media to discuss what it means to perform in front of a large crowd at Qudos Bank Arena in a round dedicated to his people.
“For me, it is just simplicity of representation on a high-level,” he said.
“To be able to perform while a bunch of players who are great at what they do and I get to do what I’m great at, and it all gets wrapped up into this round. I think that’s special itself.”
It’s a big commitment to perform in front of thousands of people, let alone if it’s your birthday. And it happens to be Keith’s birthday on Sunday, he explained what it means for him to have this event on an important day for him.
“I love to work, regardless of what day it is on,” Keith said.
“The reason I do this is much bigger than me, so that always comes first. To be able to do it in front of my people in the Indigenous Round makes me super honored. I’m excited to see the crowds and be part of it.”
Basketball and hip-hop are deeply intertwined. Keith explained why he excited for this crossover.
“I think it’s just entertainment, it just goes hand in hand,” he said.
“Especially hip-hop, it’s the excitement. The reason I’m excited is that it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while.
“I grew up playing sport, rugby league or basketball comps. I am just as much in both worlds, I have been waiting for the moment to make a connection with a team and I’m really thankful that it’s coming.”
Tasman Keith will be performing live at half-time of Kings’ Indigenous Round home game against the Cairns Taipans on Sunday, March 6 at 2.45pm at Qudos Bank Arena. Get your tickets here.
