Recent demographic reports from Ticketek, Hoops Capital's primary ticket distributor, have revealed that increasingly more females are purchasing tickets to professional Sydney basketball games than ever before.
Not only that but it's unveiled several key statistics about the Sydney Kings and Flames' fanbase.
“The gender of ticket holders to Kings’ home games is majority male, but by a slim margin,” said Hoops Capital's head of marketing Michael Johnstone.

“Recent data highlights that the gender distribution of ticket holders is 54.5 per cent male and 45.5 per cent female”.
These numbers have changed drastically over the last year, as NBL23 saw 59 per cewnt of Kings’ ticket holders be male.
“When considering ticket holders under the age of 35, female fans actually exceed the males," said Johnstone, who believes this emphasises the effectiveness of promotion for both Kings’ and Flames’ games with female viewers.
“This data supports a substantial increase in female viewership."

Unlike other Australian sporting leagues, the NBL is experiencing a notable spike in female viewers.
Both the AFL and NRL are seeing significant declines in female viewership and women attending games.
The rise in popularity of the Flames and the WNBL in general has attracted greater attendance numbers to home games, a considerable amount of which being women.
“A higher proportion of women are purchasing tickets for Flames’ games as opposed to Kings’ games," Johnstone said.
Also notable is the younger demographics that are attending Kings’ and Flames’ home games.
“Kings ticket purchasers are getting younger and younger, with the majority of ticket purchasers this season now falling under the age of 44," he said.
"This is significantly different from last season, where the majority of ticket holders were 45 and older."
The growing number of younger attendees can also be attributed to the amount of family tickets being bought.
“As there are lots of Sunday night games this season, it’s not surprising that the family ticket package is the most popular," said Johnstone.
"A further pertinent statistic is that roughly four per cent of all purchased tickets are bought outside of NSW, showing that Kings’ and Flames’ games’ are becoming an essential part of visiting Sydney."
