Basketball Australia completed a four day U19 Men’s camp at the High Performance Centre earlier this month and have finalised the team to participate in the 15th edition of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2021, which will take place in the cities of Riga and Daugavpils from 3 -11 July 2021.
The selected team has talent from across the NBL including Kings own Jaylin Galloway and Biwali Bayles.
Head Coach Darren Perry said “there was a consistent high level of performance by all players at selection camp resulting in some very tough calls being made. Our team for the World Cup in July is versatile and will be able to play with pressure defense and have the ability to score the basketball in many different ways. We know that all our opponents will be formidable and we look forward to meeting all challenges that come our way and to represent our country with honour.”
This is the third Junior World Championships for Tamuri Wigness, who previously participated in 2017 U17 and 2019 U19 FIBA World Cup’s.
Australia have drawn Pool D along with USA, Turkey and Mali.
