What You Need to Know for Finals
What lies ahead and what is possible come Finals
With just 3 regular season games left the Sydney Kings currently sit 2nd on the NBL ladder with 21 wins and only 9 losses. With only one win separating the Kings from top of the table 36ers, the minor premiership is still up for grabs, and the next month will shape how the finals series plays out. Should the Kings win all three remaining games, they will lock in a top 2 finish.
How does the NBL Finals Format Work?
The NBL Hungry Jacks Finals series is made up of three components; the Play-In Tournament, the Playoffs and the Championship Series.
The top 6 teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the finals series. The teams who finish first and second move straight to the Playoffs.
The teams that finish third and fourth will face off, with the winner to move to the playoffs and face the team that finished second in the regular season. The playoffs are a best of 3 competition.
The teams that finish fifth and six will play against each other with the loser eliminated and the winner to face the loser of 3 v 4.
The winners of each Playoffs will move forward to a best of 5 Championship Series to determine the overall winner.
In the event that teams are tied on number of wins then the points for vs points against percentage is the deciding factor and currently the Kings have the highest percentage.
