5 things to LOVE about the Schedule

1. Family friendly… Weekends, weekends and more weekends!

This year’s home draw features 12 games on a Saturday or Sunday (daytime). The remaining two are Thursday nights – much better than those pesky Mondays last year – and one of those is during the school holidays! This also means there will be a lot more game-day activities for the kids to enjoy, as we schedule more of these when we play on the weekend.

2. Revenge on opening night – OCTOBER 7!

The Adelaide 36ers set the benchmark in the regular season in 2016-17, and embarrassed the Kings 4-0 in the season series, including some very painful losses. Well this season’s new and improved Kings will get a chance to avenge those losses right from the jump, OCTOBER 7, a cracking Saturday night blockbuster!

3. A power-packed December and January.

8 of our 14 home games are in the months of December and January, when you might have more spare time – and energy – than other parts of the year. Perfect to help fill in school holidays also!

Great game-day look

4. We will have to wait to face bitter rivals Melbourne

It’s no secret that there’s extra spice when Sydney play Melbourne, and this season there’s going to be even more at stake with former Kings assistant coach Dean Vickerman taking the head coaching job for United. Add in Todd Blanchfield moving from Melbourne to play for Sydney, plus the fact that all three of our coaches come from Melbourne, will make this extra special. Lanard Copeland has said on record: “We don’t like them and they don’t like us, so it’s extra important that we get the Ws against them”. We play them AWAY November 11, but it’s not until December 30 that we get a chance to host our big interstate rival!

5. Every game is at the best basketball arena in the country!

Qudos Bank Arena has become an incredible home for the Sydney Kings and fans were amazed last season checking out proceedings on the biggest set of scoreboard screens in the southern hemisphere! Our pre-game introductions were out of this world and the kids went absolutely berserk for the dance cam, bongo cam and Lion King cam plus many others. We’ll repeat our favourites from last season plus add a few more extra special items to proceedings – you will NOT want to miss out!
